People always want to look their best.  Even those who cannot afford regular hair care spend large amounts of money on hair styling and beauty products for special occasions, creating a consistent and lucrative market. New Leaf Foundation created a program to prepare inmates with a flair for style for a rewarding and financially stable career in cosmetology.

The NLF offers intensive, hands-on instruction using an advanced, integrated curriculum in academics, technical, and workplace skills. Students learn core skills, such as entrepreneurship, salon ecology/safety, general anatomy, and chemistry, as well as technical skills, which include hair care and treatments, esthetics, nail technology, hair cutting, hair coloring, perfumery, and soap making.
