Car maintenance has become increasingly difficult, if not impossible, for the do-it-yourselfer. As long as people have cars, service will be needed to keep them in top running condition.  Automobile service and repair is a million-dollar industry, and skilled technicians are always in high demand, ensuring a stable income and the ability to support oneself and one’s family.

A good choice for the mechanically inclined inmate, New Leaf Foundation provides training in vulcanizing and car maintenance.  Vulcanizing is the art of repairing deflated tires and patching of punctured tires. Car maintenance involves expert servicing and repair of cars to keep them in top condition.  Inmates are trained to use standard equipment and modern techniques to efficiently service and repair cars and securely patch vulcanized tires.
